WHERE WE STARTED
Miss April was founded by Britt Hurrell, who was inspired to create the brand after receiving a peshtamal towel (also known as a Turkish towel) as a gift one summer. These flat-woven towels are not only extremely light, but also take up minimal space, making them an ideal travel accessory. After using the towel frequently that summer, Britt became enamored with its colorful and playful design, as well as its lightweight and absorbent fabric. It was the ultimate beach towel, and she knew she had to share this timeless luxury with Australia.
WHAT WE DO
Miss April embarked on a mission to produce exquisite merchandise that not only embraced ecological practices, but also celebrated the age-old techniques of crafting Turkish towels. As an ethical supplier of Turkish towels throughout Australia, Miss April sources products that have been skillfully woven, utilizing techniques that have been passed down for generations. It is disheartening to note that one in every five retailers in Australia does not offer ethically-made Turkish towels. Miss April exclusively offers traditionally-loomed towels that are painstakingly crafted by small groups of artisanal families using age-old shuttle looms.
THE PROCESS
All our products are made with 100% Turkish cotton. Each step of the makers process is a labour of love. From the use of OETO-TEX certified cotton and organic dyes down to the final details of each tassel being hand knotted by elderly Turkish women in the village. We stand for properly, sustainably made products that are handmade with pure passion by masters of their trade, with love and skill that cannot be replicated.
